A dishwasher can hold water after its last cycle, and a tight cabinet opening leaves little room for guesswork. Disconnect power, water, and drain service before pickup, then protect the floor and cabinet edges.

Confirm all three connections

Dishwashers use power, a water supply, and a drain connection. A qualified person should handle any hardwired electrical work or plumbing you are not prepared to do safely. The pickup crew should arrive after these connections are released.

Control residual water

Follow the manufacturer’s drain instructions. Keep the drain hose elevated until you are ready to move it, then place the hose in a shallow pan or towel. Dry the cabinet cavity if a previous leak is visible.

Protect the cabinet opening

Leave the opening safe

Cap or secure exposed connections as appropriate and keep the cabinet opening clear. If a replacement installer is coming later, ask what access they need preserved.
