Basement laundry removal is mostly an access job. Confirm that the machines are disconnected, remove residual water, measure the stair route, and clear the landing before pickup day.

Finish utility work first

Close water valves and disconnect supply hoses only if you can do so safely. A gas dryer or hardwired appliance needs qualified disconnection. The removal crew’s job begins after the appliance is safe to move.

Plan for trapped water

Washers can retain water in the pump, drain hose, and tub. Use the manufacturer’s draining instructions, keep towels ready, and cap or raise hoses so they do not trail across the floor.

Measure the whole stair path

MeasureCheck
Machine width and depthInclude knobs, doors, and protruding hoses.
Stair widthMeasure above the handrail and at the narrowest trim.
Landing depthConfirm there is room to turn the dolly.
Ceiling heightCheck low beams and ductwork.

Clear and protect

Move storage bins, rugs, and doors that swing into the route. Keep children and pets away from the work zone. Tell the provider about finished stairs, delicate railings, and any outdoor steps that become slick when wet.

Send the details that affect labor

List both machines, say whether they are stacked, and note the number of stairs and turns. Use the washer and dryer removal page to review scope before emailing.

Start with the appliance and the access.

Email the item count, floor level, steps, and disconnection status.
